Puget Sound recovery is a not only a regional priority; it is critical to the environmental and economic well-being of the entire nation. As such, the Environmental Protection Agency designated Puget Sound as an “Estuary of National Significance” under the National Estuary Program in 1988. From appropriator to regulator to trustee for Tribes, numerous Federal government entities play multiple critical roles to help advance Puget Sound recovery efforts.
